Restaurante Cocco Portitxol, Mediterranean restaurant in Portitxol Harbor, Palma, Spain
Restaurante Cocco Portitxol is a Mediterranean restaurant in Palma's Portitxol harbor area, set right on the waterfront. The dining room runs across several levels, and nearly every seat looks out onto the boats moored just below.
The building dates from the 1950s and was first used as a meeting place for a local fishermen's cooperative in Portitxol. It was later fully renovated and turned into a restaurant, keeping its position at the edge of the working harbor.
The cooking draws on Mallorcan seafood traditions and pairs them with modern Mediterranean touches, which you can taste in most dishes on the menu. Many ingredients come from the island itself, giving the food a clearly local character.
Booking ahead is a good idea, especially for the terrace, as tables go fast in the evenings. Arriving around sunset gives you the best light over the harbor, which makes the outdoor seating particularly enjoyable.
Each table has its own wine cooler and access to a small herb garden, where guests can pick fresh herbs to add directly to their dishes. The herbs are harvested just before eating, which gives the flavors an immediacy that dried or pre-cut herbs cannot match.
