Park Royal Beach Huatulco
Park Royal Beach Huatulco is a beachfront resort in Crucecita, Mexico, set on a hillside overlooking Tangolunda Bay and made up of ten separate buildings spread across the slope. Rooms come with private patios, and the property has several swimming pools, tennis courts, a small gym, and dining options that include both buffet and à la carte service.
Huatulco was a remote fishing and surfing spot before the Mexican government began developing it as a planned resort area in the 1980s. A small airport was built to make the area easier to reach, and large hotels gradually took shape along Tangolunda Bay from that point on.
The name Huatulco comes from an indigenous language spoken in the region and translates roughly as "place of the gods". Visitors who walk along Tangolunda Bay can still notice fishing boats going out early in the morning, a habit that connects the coast to its pre-resort past.
Because the resort sits on a hillside, a free shuttle runs throughout the day between the buildings, the beach, and the main lobby, which makes getting around much easier. The property has wheelchair-accessible areas and security staff on-site, so guests with different needs can move around without difficulty.
The beaches along Tangolunda Bay are part of a protected marine zone, which limits certain water activities and keeps the water noticeably cleaner than in many other Mexican coastal spots. Most guests do not realize this when they first arrive, but it explains why snorkeling just off the shore can reveal coral and fish so easily.
