Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort
Villa Escudero Plantations and Resort is a heritage estate in Tiaong with family history dating back generations, now operating as a visitor destination across farmland. The property includes a museum with artifacts, the Labasin Waterfalls Restaurant where diners sit in shallow river water, swimming pools, carabao cart rides, bamboo rafting areas, and evening cultural performances.
The estate originated from the Escudero family's agricultural investments and opened to visitors in 1981 with the waterfall restaurant as a main draw. The AERA Memorial Museum was established in the late 1980s to house the family's collection of religious and historical objects, while various relics including old vehicles remain scattered across the grounds.
Villa Escudero displays Filipino traditions through period costumes, regional dances, and stories performed by local artists in afternoon shows. Visitors see statues depicting traditional customs like courtship rituals and can experience the blend of heritage kept alive through daily activities across the estate.
Wear shorts and bring extra clothes when dining at the waterfall since you will sit with your feet in the water, and bring sunscreen for sun exposure across the grounds. The dry season from November to May offers the best conditions for outdoor activities, as rain makes paths muddy and less pleasant for walking.
The waterfall restaurant features a man-made waterfall built with spring water flowing over cement designed to look like natural rocks, which surprises visitors expecting a natural formation. Fish occasionally swim around diners' feet while they eat, adding an unexpected and amusing detail to the meal experience.
