The Palace Luxury Resort
The Palace Luxury Resort is a resort hotel in Bahubal Upazila, Bangladesh, set on grounds that include hills, valleys, and a lake surrounded by greenery. It offers rooms in a main tower and villas of different sizes, from standard accommodations to presidential villas with private helipads and indoor Jacuzzis.
The resort was built on the initiative of Arifur Rahman, who grew up in the tea gardens of Sylhet and wanted to create a place that respects the natural surroundings. The project received government support, a five-star license, and awards for tree planting and environmental protection.
The resort's name refers to its palace-like architecture, which visitors notice as soon as they arrive on the grounds. The buildings sit within tea gardens and hills that are typical of the Sylhet region, giving the stay a distinctly local feel.
The resort is about 4 km from the main highway along a winding road through green surroundings, so planning the journey in advance is helpful. On-site parking is available, and the property is large enough that guests may want to allow extra time to move between different areas.
The presidential villas include private theater rooms, which is a rare feature for hotel accommodations in Bangladesh. The grounds also have a lake where boat rides are possible, an unusual offering for a hotel property in this part of the country.
