Manitou Spring
Manitou Spring is a resort hotel with spa in Manitou Beach, Saskatchewan, specializing in mineral water therapy. The property has over 100 rooms, a large heated mineral water pool, a spa offering massages and facials, and a restaurant overlooking the lake.
First Nations communities used Little Manitou Lake as a healing place for centuries, described in legends as a place of recovery. The resort itself was built in 1987 and brought modern spa facilities to the region, building on the 1920s tradition of mineral water wellness.
The name Manitou comes from First Nations language and refers to healing waters that communities have used for centuries. Today you see visitors relaxing together in the warm pools, continuing the local tradition of water therapy.
The resort is open daily year-round and offers day passes, monthly and yearly passes for the pools and treatments. From Saskatoon, the drive is about 90 minutes southeast via highways 16 and 365, while driving from Regina takes around two hours.
The mineral water of Little Manitou Lake is almost as salty as the Dead Sea and leaves visible salt deposits on skin and white mineral foam on the beach that looks like snow. The pools are so buoyant that you float weightlessly and can drift while reading a newspaper without sinking.
