Autobau Erlebniswelt
Autobau Erlebniswelt is a museum in Romanshorn featuring about 120 vehicles ranging from vintage models to modern supercars, displayed across multiple thematic sections. These include a racing area with Formula 1 cars, a Classic Hall with older vehicles, and the Supersport Gallery with its contemporary steel architecture.
The museum grew from a passion for automotive history, documenting how vehicle technology has evolved over decades through its collections. Its exhibits trace important phases from early automobiles to the racing culture of recent times.
The name combines automobile with the German word for experience, reflecting the hands-on approach to car culture here. Visitors from different backgrounds gather to share their interest in vehicles and their stories of innovation.
The site is located near Romanshorn's train station and harbor, reachable on foot in about 15 minutes or by car with ample parking. Opening hours vary by season, with regular Sunday access and daily hours during summer months.
On nice days, visitors can watch and photograph rare supercars and high-performance vehicles being driven on the nearby racing track. These spontaneous sightings turn each visit into an adventure for car lovers and photographers.
