Onibus Coffee
Onibus Coffee is a small café near the Toyoko Line tracks in Nakameguro, housed in a two-story wooden building with a traditional Japanese feel. The ground floor features an espresso machine and V60 pour-over station, while a Diedrich roaster sits behind a large glass window at the back so customers can watch the roasting process.
The first Onibus café opened near Okusawa Station as a minimal counter-hatch. The shop relocated to Nakameguro and opened in January in a newly designed space featuring Tokoname tiles and custom ceramics made specifically for the café.
The name Onibus comes from Japanese and means demon bus. The shop mirrors local life, fitting naturally into the neighborhood where people pause briefly during their daily routines.
The shop sits about 150 meters from Nakameguro Station and is easy to reach on foot. There is limited outdoor seating with stools that works best in good weather, so most visitors order their coffee to take away.
The owner plans to move the roaster to a different location soon, making the current opportunity to watch the roasting process in action a temporary experience worth noting. Cherry blossoms in the nearby park bloom in spring, creating a lovely setting where visitors can enjoy their coffee surrounded by seasonal change.
