Ramada Resort by Wyndham Dead Sea
The Ramada Resort by Wyndham Dead Sea is a hotel on the shore of the Dead Sea in the Shoonah Janoobiyah Sub-District, Jordan. It has rooms with balconies, several pools, a spa, a fitness center, a private beach, and a number of restaurants and bars on the grounds.
The hotel opened in 2012 and went through a major renovation the following year. The Dead Sea shore has been a destination for people seeking relief from ailments since ancient times, long before any hotels were built here.
Applying the dark grey mud from the shore to the skin is something visitors do openly on the beach, following a local habit that has been passed down over many generations. Watching others float effortlessly on the surface of the water is one of the small, memorable moments that defines a stay here.
The resort is most easily reached by car, and the drive from Queen Alia International Airport takes roughly one hour. The property has free parking and is set up to accommodate guests with mobility needs.
The Dead Sea sits about 1,400 feet (430 meters) below sea level, making it the lowest place on the surface of the Earth where people can swim. Because of this depth, the air along the shore is denser and richer in oxygen than at higher altitudes, which many guests find noticeably comfortable.
