Loacker, Food retail café in Bolzano, Italy
Loacker is a café spread across two floors in the Twenty Shopping Center, featuring a glass winter garden and an outdoor terrace. The retail space displays around two hundred products made by the company itself.
The story started in 1925 when an Austrian pastry maker opened a small shop in central Bolzano with just two helpers. From this modest beginning grew what later became a well-known wafer-making business.
The place brings together local traditions and modern retail in a way that reflects South Tyrolean craftsmanship and daily habits. Visitors experience how coffee and pastry-making traditions exist side by side in a contemporary setting.
The location is on Piazza Walther and is easy to reach by public transport. It's best to visit on a weekday when it's less crowded, and allow time to browse the different products available.
Products are made at elevations above 1,000 meters (3,300 feet) in the Dolomites, where the air and climate give the wafers their characteristic crispy texture. This geographic setting plays an important role in how they are made.
