Zugvogel, Airport restaurant in Schwechat, Austria
Zugvogel is a restaurant in the shopping area of Vienna Airport's Terminal 2, spanning roughly 670 square meters with modern fixtures and design. It features an open kitchen that lets guests watch food being prepared directly.
The restaurant reopened on March 30, 2023 following extensive renovation that required two years of planning by its operator. The five-month construction period allowed for a complete modernization of both the interior and operations.
The restaurant presents Austrian culinary tradition alongside global dishes, featuring Wiener schnitzel, burgers of various kinds, and vegetarian options. Visitors encounter a mix of classic and contemporary flavors designed to suit the varied tastes of travelers passing through.
The restaurant sits within the airport, making it easily accessible to all passengers between flights. Those arriving early or departing late can find meals and drinks available throughout the day.
The ceiling features an installation of around 700 plastic birds that give the place its name and create a playful connection to aviation. Wall-mounted plants reinforce this sense and bring nature into the terminal.
