Skansen "Zagroda Wsi Pszczyńskiej", Open-air museum in Pszczyna, Poland.
Skansen Zagroda Wsi Pszczyńskiej is an open-air museum spread across about 2 hectares with more than ten authentic rural buildings from the Pszczyna region, including a windmill and a coach house. The structures represent different styles and sizes that reflected the economic differences between farming families of earlier centuries.
The museum was established in 1975 to preserve 19th-century buildings that demonstrate traditional construction methods and rural living conditions in the Pszczyna area. The site was created by gathering historic structures to protect them from decay and loss.
The buildings house everyday items from village life, including beekeeping tools, farming equipment, and household furnishings that reflect how people worked and lived. Walking through these spaces, you see the practical side of rural traditions as they existed in this region.
The site is easy to walk around since the buildings are connected by paths and there are several rest areas. Wear comfortable shoes and allow about two to three hours to explore the houses, their interiors, and the collections at a leisurely pace.
The houses are furnished with original furniture and everyday objects that create an authentic sense of how people actually lived inside. One notable feature is the collection of historic carriages and wagons displayed in purpose-built farm buildings.
