Sonesta
Sonesta is a hotel on the Caribbean coast of Cartagena, Colombia, with 115 rooms, many of which have balconies facing the Ciénaga de la Virgen or the open sea. The building has large common areas with floor-to-ceiling windows and several pools set along the waterfront.
Cartagena grew into one of the main ports of the Spanish colonial empire and served as a gateway for trade between South America and Europe for centuries. The hotel stands in a newer part of the city that developed along the coast away from the old walled district.
The Palenke restaurant serves Colombian Caribbean food, while Enso offers Japanese and Latin American dishes with sea views. Both dining rooms show the mix of flavors that defines cooking along this part of the coast.
The hotel is about 4 miles (6 km) from the airport and roughly 5 miles (8 km) from the historic center, with parking and transfer services on site. Breakfast is included in the stay, and a fitness center open around the clock and tennis courts are available to guests.
The hotel has a semi-Olympic pool, an infinity pool, and a separate children's area, all sitting directly beside the beach. This setup means guests can move easily between the pools and the sea without leaving the property.
