Robata Sushi & Grill, Japanese restaurant in Esquerra de l'Eixample, Barcelona, Spain.
Robata Sushi & Grill is a Japanese restaurant in the Esquerra de l'Eixample neighborhood of Barcelona. It serves both freshly made sushi and grilled dishes cooked over charcoal using the robatayaki method.
The restaurant opened on Enric Granados Street, a pedestrian-friendly road in the Eixample known for its terraces and dining spots. After gaining a following in Barcelona, the concept later expanded to Madrid.
The word robata comes from the Japanese term for fireside cooking, where food is grilled slowly over charcoal. Sitting at the counter, guests can watch the cooks work directly in front of them.
The restaurant sits on Calle Enric Granados, a pedestrian street that is easy to reach on foot or by metro. Seating is available at the bar counter or at regular tables, and booking ahead is a good idea.
The menu draws on local Catalan and Mediterranean ingredients while following Japanese cooking methods. This combination is not something you often find in other Japanese restaurants in Barcelona.
