Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort
The Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort is a large hotel right on the beach with modern room types ranging from standard king or queen rooms to spacious suites with separate living areas. The resort has two large pools with ocean views, a spa featuring a man-made cenote, two restaurants, a fitness center, and dedicated spaces for children and teenagers.
The hotel opened in 2015 as one of the newest accommodations in Playa del Carmen, featuring modern architecture and open, light-filled spaces. As of late July 2025, the property will transition to an adults-only, all-inclusive resort model.
The hotel's spa references cenotes, natural water pools that held deep meaning in Maya culture, bringing local tradition into the resort experience. The design of the spa as a stone chamber shaped like a volcano allows visitors to connect with these cultural elements while they relax.
The hotel sits just one block from Quinta Avenida and a short walk from the ferry terminal to Cozumel, making it a convenient base for exploring the city. The public bus station is roughly 1 kilometer away, and the airport is about 35 kilometers from the property.
Guests staying eight nights or more receive complimentary access to a private beach cabana, adding an extra layer of comfort to longer stays. This benefit often goes unnoticed by visitors who do not ask about it in advance.
