Israeli Air Force Museum

The Israeli Air Force Museum is located on the grounds of Hatzerim Air Force Base and displays more than 150 aircraft, helicopters, and anti-aircraft systems. Most of the exhibition is arranged outdoors, allowing visitors to see the full scale and construction details of the machines.

The museum opened in 1991 following planning that began when General Yaakov Turner laid the cornerstone in 1985. It was created to preserve and document the development of Israeli aviation and its role in the nation's history.

The museum is staffed by active Israeli Air Force personnel who share firsthand knowledge about the aircraft on display and their operational history. Visitors gain direct insights into military aviation as it is understood and practiced by those who fly these machines.

The facility is easy to explore in good weather, as most exhibits are displayed in open areas where you walk between the aircraft. Comfortable shoes are essential since you will be moving around outdoors, and it is wise to bring water and sun protection.

The collection includes aircraft captured from neighboring countries, which serve as examples of military achievements and regional aviation differences. These machines reveal technological contrasts between various air forces in the area.
