Hrad Grabštejn

Burg Grafenstein sits on a hilltop above the Václavický stream valley, combining Renaissance architecture with Gothic defensive structures. The castle contains multiple collections, historic cellars with exhibitions, a war tower with an observation platform, and a chapel.

The castle was built in the 13th century by the Dohna family and served as a border fortress during the Thirty Years' War. It played a key defensive role in the region until the mid-17th century.

The chapel displays Renaissance frescoes with biblical scenes and Saint Barbara, painted during the 16th-century renovations. These artworks continue to shape the spiritual character of the place today.

Access the castle through the main entrance, which leads to the different areas within. Plan time to explore the towers and exhibitions, as these spaces offer plenty to discover at your own pace.

The castle courtyard hosts concerts featuring singers and musicians from renowned theaters. These events bring together history and contemporary performances in a historic setting.
