Mimi's Drive Inn
Mimi's Drive Inn is a family-owned restaurant in Fulton, Oswego County, that has been serving food for over 50 years. The building with its pink and white sign at 201 North Second Street features a functional design with booths and counters where customers enjoy breakfast anytime, burgers and sandwiches for lunch, and homemade chicken with biscuits for dinner.
The restaurant began as an ice cream stand in Mexico in the late 1950s or early 1960s under Elwanda and Loren Duell. George Sachel purchased it in 1970 and named it after his wife Mimi, fulfilling a promise he made to her when they married.
The name Mimi's honors the wife of founder George Sachel, whom he promised to put in lights if she married him. The restaurant remains deeply embedded in the community, supporting local schools and events, reflecting how much the family values the town's trust.
The restaurant is located on North Second Street and is easy to reach by foot or car. Operations focus mainly on warmer months with outdoor seating, so visitors should check seasonal availability.
The family preserves a special Italian tradition by making peanut brittle each fall using a recipe brought from Italy by George Sachel's great-grandfather Charles Giovo. This handmade treat has been crafted by generations in the community and honors the family's Italian roots.
