La sequenza, Art installation at Hangar Bicocca, Milan, Italy

The monumental iron sculpture La Sequenza spans 22 meters in length, 10 meters in width, and reaches 7 meters in height, displaying vertical plates arranged in three levels.

Created by Fausto Melotti in 1981, the sculpture first appeared in Pirelli Magazine in 1971 and was initially displayed at the Forte del Belvedere in Florence.

The structure incorporates mathematical principles and draws inspiration from Greek architecture, Piero della Francesca's paintings, and Bach's musical compositions.

The sculpture stands in the garden area at the entrance of Hangar Bicocca, welcoming visitors as they approach the contemporary art exhibition space.

The vertical iron plates create a visual rhythm that resembles fingers moving across a musical keyboard, forming a dynamic interplay of positive and negative spaces.
