Dough Pizzeria Napoletana, Pizzeria and Italian restaurant in Castle Hills, Texas, US.
Dough Pizzeria Napoletana is a Neapolitan-style pizzeria in the Castle Hills neighborhood of San Antonio, Texas. It uses two wood-burning ovens that reach very high temperatures, cooking each pizza in under two minutes.
Doug and Lori Horn opened the restaurant in November 2007 with the goal of bringing Neapolitan pizza to San Antonio. It was among the first places in the region to focus on this style of baking.
The restaurant roots itself in Italian cooking traditions through house-made mozzarella and ingredients sourced directly from Naples. The way pizzas are prepared here reflects methods passed down through generations in Italy.
Reservations are accepted and recommended, especially on weekends when the place tends to fill up quickly. Gluten-free options are available on the menu for those who need them.
The two wood-burning ovens have their own names, Il Cuore and Scintilla, which mean the heart and the spark in Italian. The mozzarella used on the pizzas is made fresh in the restaurant each day.
