Liw Castle Armory, Medieval weapons museum in Liw, Poland.
Liw Castle Armory is a museum set inside a Gothic fortress in Liw, Poland, displaying swords, armor, crossbows, and early firearms spanning several centuries. The collection fills stone chambers that still follow the layout of a working castle arsenal.
A Warsaw duke had the fortress built in the 15th century to control a key river crossing in the region. It was heavily damaged during the Swedish invasions of the 17th century and gradually lost its military role after that.
The displays show armor and weapons arranged as they would have been used inside a castle, giving visitors a clear picture of what a soldier's equipment looked like. The crossbows and early firearms are especially telling, showing how combat changed over the centuries.
The site sits close to Warsaw and is easy to reach by car. Visiting on a weekday helps avoid larger groups and gives more room to move through the stone chambers at your own pace.
Part of the collection includes weapons recovered from the Swedish wars that swept through this area, not brought from elsewhere to fill the display cases. These objects come from the same conflict that nearly destroyed the fortress holding them.
