Château de Brissac

Château de Brissac, Renaissance castle in Brissac-Loire-Aubance, France

Château de Brissac is a Renaissance castle in the Loire region with seven floors and facades that rise from a park filled with mature trees. The building combines architecture from different periods because it was expanded and updated over several centuries.

The Cossé family acquired the estate in the early 1500s and shaped its development across generations. The castle was later expanded with new wings that reflect its current appearance and layered architectural styles.

The castle contains a theater decorated in Belle Époque style with ornate details and gilded ceilings that reflect past elegance. The rooms display art collections and historical furniture that show how the family lived across different periods.

The castle is open to visitors year-round and offers guided tours through the rooms. The park can also be explored independently without entering all the interior spaces.

The castle contains an underground structure originally designed for water management that remains partially visible today. The owners produce wine from the historic cellars and sell it to visitors.
