Fou Fow Ramen, Japanese ramen restaurant in Elandsgracht, Amsterdam, Netherlands
Fou Fow Ramen is a Japanese noodle restaurant on Elandsgracht that prepares fresh broths daily from pork and chicken using traditional cooking methods. The noodles are imported specially from Japan and prepared in the classical way.
The restaurant began in 2011 above the Toko Dun Yong Asian supermarket in Amsterdam's Chinatown district. In 2014, it relocated to its current location on Elandsgracht.
The establishment's name comes from founder Fow Pyng's childhood nickname, which means 'crazy' in French, reflecting a cross-cultural connection between Asian and European influences.
The space is arranged simply and informally with limited seating and no reservation system. Visitors should expect possible waiting times during busy hours.
The dish is served with different broth varieties including Shio, Tori Lemon Ginger, and Tonkotsu, each offering distinct flavor profiles. This selection allows visitors to try various traditional Japanese ramen styles in one place.
