Βουρλιά
Vourlía is a small beach in the bay near Gargalianoi in the Peloponnese. The beach features fine sand and clear water in a protected cove, with the small island of Próti offshore and the port of Marathópoli visible across the water.
The island of Próti offshore once served as a refuge and was historically linked to pirate activity in the region. The wreck of the cargo ship Anouar from World War II rests just meters from shore, bearing witness to the area's wartime past.
The beach has no organized facilities, so bring water, food, and supplies before arriving. The water is clear and shallow with rocks and sand, making it good for snorkeling to explore the shipwreck underwater.
Just meters from shore, snorkelers can see the remains of the World War II cargo ship Anouar when the water is clear enough. This mix of history and unspoiled coastline makes it a rare place where visitors can directly touch the past underwater.
