• Domus de janas di Monte Siseri I o di S'Incantu, Neolithic burial chamber in Putifigari, Sardinia.

Domus de janas di Monte Siseri I is a stone-cut burial chamber with multiple rooms arranged in a T-shaped layout. It includes an entrance passage, anteroom, and main chamber with two smaller side rooms.

This burial chamber was built during the Late Neolithic between 3200 and 2600 BCE and served as a burial site for many centuries. It remained in use throughout the Roman period.

The carved red ochre marks on the walls show how people honored their dead with elaborate decoration and symbolism. These details reveal beliefs about the afterlife that were important to Neolithic communities across the Mediterranean.

Access is located at 850 meters elevation on Mount Siseri and requires advance reservations and professional guidance to visit. Planning ahead is essential because access to the archaeological site is controlled and carefully managed.

The main chamber holds a ritual hearth formed by nested concentric rings, marking sacred ceremonies performed in this space. The ceiling displays stone carvings that imitate a wooden pitched roof, revealing how builders brought domestic architecture underground.
