Plage du Trez
Plage du Trez in Bénodet is a long, wide stretch of fine golden sand bordered by colorful changing cabins and backed by a paved promenade that leads to the town center. The beach curves gently along a bay, with two boat launch ramps at its ends and views across the water toward the Odet estuary and the open sea beyond.
Trez developed as a seaside resort in the 19th century when Bénodet emerged as a port town and tourist destination. The distinctive colored changing cabins were built between 1900 and 1950 and continue to define the beach's character to this day.
The name "Trez" comes from the Breton language and means "beach". This shore serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors mix throughout the seasons, with water sports, casual strolls, and simple leisure activities shaping how people use the space daily.
The beach is easy to reach from Bénodet's town center with parking available nearby, and a flat paved path makes it simple for visitors of all ages to reach the water. Lifeguards patrol the swimming area daily from midday through early evening during summer, and facilities like changing cabins, showers, and toilets are clearly marked and conveniently located.
The beach has two boat launch ramps built directly into the sand, allowing sailors and fishing boats to launch their vessels from the shore without leaving the beach area. This practical feature is unusual for beaches in the region and makes the site valuable for both swimmers and water sports enthusiasts alike.
