Belcekız beach

Belcekız is a beach over one kilometer long with turquoise water in Ölüdeniz on the Turkish Mediterranean coast. The fine golden sand is washed by gentle waves, while forested slopes rise behind.

Local legend tells of a young woman named Belcekız whose tragic fate gave the beach its name. The settlements around it developed into a known destination for visitors only in the 20th century.

The sand along this coastal section comes from the nearby mountains and is kept in its fine golden color by the waves. Vendors offer traditional snacks along the promenade, including freshly prepared flatbreads with various fillings.

Along the coastline there are showers, changing cabins, and rental stations for loungers and umbrellas during the warm months. Water sports providers are located at several points and offer equipment for different activities.

The water temperature stays somewhat cooler than at other beaches in the region, due to the proximity to deeper sea currents. This cooling feature makes swimming pleasantly refreshing even on hot summer days.
