Plateau State Park, State park in Champigny-sur-Marne, France
Plateau State Park is an 18-hectare property that descends from a high plateau down to the Marne River, with walking paths, islands, and viewing platforms throughout the grounds. Multiple vantage points allow visitors to gaze across the valley and toward the Paris skyline.
The park took shape across two distinct phases, with the first section completed in 1984 offering expansive open spaces. A second phase added in 1990 brought more structured areas and additional facilities.
The park displays contemporary art installations by local and international artists that enliven the grounds and enhance the walking experience. These works integrate seamlessly into the landscape and offer visitors a chance to encounter art in an outdoor setting.
The grounds offer various sports activities such as table tennis, volleyball, basketball, and inline skating, with equipment available to borrow during summer months. Wear comfortable shoes and allow time to explore the network of paths at your own pace.
The grounds feature specialized gardens showcasing around 30 bamboo varieties and approximately 15 different maple tree species scattered throughout the property. A dedicated section displays heather plants, rhododendrons, and azaleas that visitors often discover while exploring.
