Golfclub Lungau / Katschberg, Golf course in Sankt Michael im Lungau, Austria.
Golfclub Lungau/Katschberg is an 18-hole course set on level ground at 1,050 meters altitude with natural obstacles woven into its design. A 9-hole public course complements the main layout, offering space for players of different skill levels.
Keith Preston designed the facility in 1993, creating a course that included options for various skill levels from the start. This approach reflected the designer's intention to serve a broad range of players.
The club draws golfers from across the Salzburg region who gather for tournaments and friendly matches throughout the season. It serves as a meeting point where players of different levels share their passion for the sport.
The facility operates from April through October with a 30-tee driving range, practice areas, and equipment rental available. Visitors should note that the high altitude can affect ball flight, and it helps to arrive with some mountain hiking experience.
The course includes a dedicated 3-hole training area that helps new players develop basics without the pressure of a full round. This focused learning space makes the club a welcoming entry point for those new to the game.
