Papago Park Croatia is a bird park and petting zoo in Červar, in the Istrian region near Poreč. It is home to over 200 bird species from around the world, including cockatoos, budgerigars, and peafowl, housed in enclosures designed to reflect their natural habitats.
The site was established as the first bird park on the Istrian peninsula, built from the start with an environmental focus. Over time, a petting zoo area and an educational center were added, turning it into a destination for families and school groups.
The park takes its name from the Papago macaw, one of the birds living there. Visitors can get close to this macaw during their walk through the grounds.
The grounds sit right along the main road between Poreč and Novigrad, making it easy to reach by car, and parking is available on site. Opening hours vary by season, so it is worth checking them before you plan your visit.
Every bird in the park was hatched in licensed breeding centers located in countries that follow the CITES treaty for the protection of wild animals. The park's signage is produced using a wood-burning technique, with no paint or plastic involved.
