Réserve écologique des Maillys

The reserve covers 36 hectares, including 28 hectares of water bodies formed from former gravel pits, creating habitats for numerous bird species.

The site transformed from a gravel quarry used for the A39 highway construction into a protected ecological reserve managed by the Côte-d'Or Department.

The reserve serves as an educational center where visitors learn about bird species and environmental conservation through guided tours and educational trails.

Access to the reserve requires advance reservations through the Auxonne Tourist Office, with guided tours available throughout the year.

More than 180 bird species inhabit or migrate through this sanctuary, making it a primary location for ornithological research in eastern France.
