NaturOparc
NaturOparc is a wildlife park in Hunawihr focused on reintroduction and protection of local species. The facility houses white storks, European otters, large hamsters, and farm animals in spacious enclosures surrounded by trees and ponds.
Founded in 1976, the center was created to save the white stork and other local species that were disappearing from the region. Through decades of dedicated work, many animals have been successfully returned to the wild in Alsace.
The center demonstrates how local communities can actively protect endangered species found in the region. Visitors experience the importance of conservation firsthand and understand why these animals matter to the Alsace landscape and its people.
The park is open year-round and offers picnic areas, a cafe, and play spaces for children. Well-maintained walking paths wind through shaded areas, making exploration comfortable throughout the day.
In spring and early summer, visitors can observe newly hatched stork chicks, an unforgettable experience for many. Watching these tiny birds in their nests remains one of the most memorable moments of a visit.
