Monte Selvagem

Monte Selvagem is a safari park and zoo set within Alentejo landscape, housing around 300 animals from roughly 70 different species. The animals inhabit natural-style enclosures and habitats spread across the grounds.

The park started as a family project and later received multiple awards for its work. Recognition as Best Tourism Animation Enterprise of Alentejo in 2012 and the More Tourism Award in 2010 marked its growing reputation.

The park works with international zoos and scientific institutions to support animal populations in natural environments. This collaboration includes local communities and authorities working together on conservation goals.

Opening hours vary with the seasons, with longer hours from May through September. During winter months, groups of 20 or more are welcome to visit.

The park accepts only animals that have been seized by authorities or transferred from other facilities. This approach reflects the park's strong commitment to environmental responsibility.
