The facility contains fifteen large aquariums with a total water volume of 15,000 liters, displaying diverse aquatic environments from global tropical regions.
The aquarium originated from a group of local enthusiasts who established the Cercle Aquariophile de Saint Chamond to share their knowledge of aquatic life.
Members of the aquarium association maintain exhibits representing biotopes from multiple continents, including African lakes, Asian rivers, and South American waterways.
The aquarium opens four Sundays per year, with admission prices of 3 euros for adults, 1 euro for children between 5 and 12 years old.
The name Aquaramiaud combines the word aquarium with Couramiaud, the traditional name for Saint-Chamond inhabitants.
