Wonju Hanji Theme Park is a cultural park in Wonju, South Korea, dedicated to hanji, the traditional Korean handmade paper. The site includes a main building with exhibition rooms, a hands-on workshop space, a small reading room, and an outdoor park surrounding it.
The park opened in 2010 to give Wonju's long tradition of hanji making a permanent home. From 2011, the Hanji Culture Foundation took over management and has since organized regular cultural events and festivals on the site.
The art shop inside sells everyday objects made from hanji, from notebooks to lampshades, showing how the traditional paper is still used today. Visitors can also watch demonstrations of the papermaking process on the ground floor.
The site is fully accessible, with dedicated parking, adapted restrooms, and an elevator in the main building. Guided tours in Korean are available throughout the day, roughly every hour.
Although entry to the park is free, some temporary exhibitions may charge a separate fee. Checking the current program on the official website before visiting helps avoid surprises.
