Piscina Natural, Natural sea pool in Castillo Caleta de Fuste, Spain

The Piscina Natural is a sea pool carved into the volcanic rock along the coast of Castillo Caleta de Fuste, on the island of Fuerteventura. It can be reached by a wooden staircase and has varying depths, with shallower areas near the edges and deeper water toward the center.

The pool formed over thousands of years through the combined action of lava flows, wind, and seawater eroding the volcanic rock. Only in more recent times were wooden stairs and simple paths added to make access easier for visitors.

The Piscina Natural has long been a gathering spot for locals, who come here on weekends to swim and sit on the rocks. Visitors who look closely into the rock crevices can spot small crabs and fish moving through the shallow water.

The pool sits right along a coastal path that can be walked from Castillo Caleta de Fuste without much effort. Water conditions depend heavily on the tide, so low tide is generally the calmest and safest time to swim.

When the tide rises, seawater flows into the pool through a natural opening in the rock, which means the water level and even its color can shift several times in a single day. This constant renewal keeps the water salt and fresh without any artificial system.
