Lingtong Mountain

Lingtong Mountain is a mountain range in the southwest of Pinghe County with tall, jagged peaks and unusually shaped rocks. The mountain is home to several temples, including the Lingtong Temple built into a natural cave, as well as natural springs and waterfalls such as the famous Pearl Curtain waterfall.

The mountain was historically a place of study and worship, particularly after the scholar Huang Daozhou visited as a young man and later returned with friends. The name changed from Dafeng Mountain to Lingtong Mountain following a calligraphy inscription on a nearby rock.

The mountain has long been a place of worship and spiritual practice for those seeking peace. The temples and rock carvings show a long tradition of prayer and quiet contemplation that still shapes the feeling of the place today.

The site is accessible from early morning to early evening, and most visitors need two to three hours to explore the hiking trails and viewpoints. It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes and bring water, especially if you plan to walk for several hours.

A remarkable feature is a large natural rock formation that looks like a Buddha head perched on a steep cliff. This unusual stone formation displays detailed features like eyes, nose, and mouth that appear so natural they captivate visitors.
