Phuket Nature Elephant Reserve
Phuket Nature Elephant Reserve is a wildlife park in Si Sunthon where rescued elephants live in a natural setting. The grounds are covered with trees and plants, featuring water areas and mud zones where the animals roam freely and interact.
The reserve was founded in 2019 to help elephants that had endured poor working conditions and circus performances. It emerged as a response to the need for better care for elephants in Thailand.
The reserve's name reflects its focus on letting elephants live naturally rather than for entertainment. Visitors witness animals moving freely, bathing in water, and rolling in mud as they would in the wild.
Wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as you will walk on paths through the vegetated grounds. Guided tours are available lasting from short visits to several hours, with the reserve open from morning to late afternoon.
The reserve recycles elephant dung into paper and uses solar power to reduce environmental impact. These sustainable practices demonstrate a holistic approach to protecting both animals and nature.
