Gorilla Volcano, Animal habitat in Pairi Daiza, Belgium.
The Gorilla Volcano is a habitat within Pairi Daiza animal park in Brugelette designed specifically for gorillas. The enclosure features multiple islands and simulated volcanic structures that create a naturalistic living environment.
The habitat opened in 2023 as part of a major investment by the animal park. It was created to provide endangered Central African gorillas with an appropriate living environment.
The facility represents a commitment to conservation of gorillas, whose population decreased from 100,000 to critical levels in just two decades.
Visiting works best on days with mild weather when the animals are most active. The enclosure is located within the main park and is easily accessible on foot.
One of the gorillas here came from an Austrian zoo and lives alongside two animals from Amsterdam. This international composition of the group is part of conservation efforts to keep gorillas in safe environments.
