Les Cuves du Duzon, Natural limestone pools in Plats, France
Les Cuves du Duzon is a series of natural limestone basins carved by the Duzon River into the surrounding rock over thousands of years. The pools stretch across approximately one kilometer and vary in size and depth, with some reaching up to fifty meters in diameter.
The basins formed through continuous water erosion that hollowed and wore away the limestone rock over millennia. This geological process created the distinctive formations visible today and shaped the landscape over countless generations.
The natural pools serve as a meeting point for local residents who gather during summer months to swim and share stories of regional traditions.
Visitors can access the site through two main entry points: the Grange de Vaure path near the bridge or the Vaures trail system. The area is best suited for swimming during warmer months when water levels are stable and comfortable for bathing.
Each limestone basin presents different depths and formations, offering natural swimming areas surrounded by steep rock walls and forest vegetation.
