Belevenisboerderij Schieveen

Belevenisboerderij Schieveen is a working farm open to the public with an information center, lunchroom, and shop where visitors can see sheep, goats, chickens, and other animals. The space allows direct observation of farm life and animal care.

The farm resulted from a partnership between Rotterdam Municipality, the Natuurmonumenten organization, and local sheep farmer Martin Oosthoek to create an educational center. This collaboration brought agricultural knowledge into an urban area.

The farm bridges city and countryside, allowing visitors to experience direct contact with animals and farming work as part of daily life. Here you can see how people and livestock interact and how a working farm operates.

The farm opens Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM with free admission. Visitors should know that parking for non-members becomes paid starting in March 2025.

Sheep from this farm are regularly guided through Rotterdam's city center as a natural way to maintain grassy areas. This unusual practice makes the connection between urban space and animal care visible to city residents.
