Riad Spa Sindibad, Hotel and Moroccan riad in Marrakech, Morocco
Riad Spa Sindibad is a hotel in the medina of Marrakech, made up of two renovated traditional Moroccan houses. It has nine rooms and suites arranged around a plant-filled central courtyard, a rooftop terrace overlooking the surrounding rooftops, a small pool, and a spa offering traditional Moroccan treatments.
The building is constructed in the style of traditional Moroccan homes and draws on the old architecture of the medina, which carries Andalusian influences. Over time it was renovated to bring in modern comfort without changing its original layout.
The riad follows a long tradition of Moroccan hospitality, where tea is almost always part of the welcome. Handmade tiles and carved woodwork are visible throughout the building, showing how lively local craftsmanship remains in Marrakech today.
The riad sits in the medina, so it is best reached on foot since the surrounding lanes are too narrow for vehicles. The Koutoubia Mosque and Jemaa el-Fna square are within walking distance, making it easy to move around the old city.
The property is actually two adjoining houses joined into one, which gives the floor plan an irregular shape and creates unexpected corners and passages between rooms. This layout gives the place a character that a single new building could rarely match.
