Show Court Arena, Arena in Melbourne, Australia
Show Court Arena, also known as Kia Arena, is an open-air stadium with around 5,000 seats located at Melbourne Park in Australia. It sits between Rod Laver Arena and John Cain Arena, making it the largest fully outdoor venue in the park.
The arena opened in January 2022, just in time for the Australian Open, as part of a government-funded upgrade of Melbourne Park. Shortly after opening, a sponsorship agreement with the car brand Kia gave the venue its current commercial name.
The arena is best known for hosting early rounds and qualifying matches during the Australian Open, drawing fans from around the world. On event days, the area around it fills with food stands and entertainment, making it a social gathering point within Melbourne Park.
The venue sits within Melbourne Park, close to the city center, and is straightforward to reach by public transport. Accessible seating, food, drinks, and restrooms are available throughout the site.
The arena is partly set into the ground, which helps shield it from wind and keeps temperatures lower on hot playing days. The court itself uses a synthetic surface called GreenSet, chosen for professional play because it produces a steady and consistent ball bounce.
