Domaine de la Planche, Eco-friendly campground in Viscomtat, France
Domaine de la Planche is an eco-conscious campsite set across about 10 hectares of fields and woodland. The grounds include permaculture gardens, solar showers, dry toilets, sleeping rooms, and separate areas for caravans and tents.
The site was developed from a restored Forez farm building that underwent complete renovation in 2009. This restoration work preserved the original agricultural character of the location.
The site is run by a French scout organization and offers courses in wild cooking, permaculture, and cooperative learning methods. Visitors can join these hands-on activities and learn from the experts working on the grounds.
Accommodation ranges from rooms to camping and caravan areas, all with water and electrical connections at various points. Visitors should check in advance what type of lodging and facilities suit their needs.
The site hosts permanent eco-volunteers who work year-round on sustainability projects. This ongoing presence means visitors can speak with experienced practitioners who work daily with regenerative methods.
