Les Peupliers, Beachside campground in Merville-Franceville-Plage, France
Les Peupliers is a beachside campground with 158 grass pitches shaded by poplar trees, located just 400 meters from the Normandy coast. The site features open grassy areas arranged among mature trees in a relaxed seaside setting.
The campground was founded in the mid-20th century as a family destination in the Calvados region and played a role in local tourism growth. Its establishment reflects the period when coastal camping became popular in France.
The site serves as a gathering place where guests play traditional games like pétanque and sample regional Norman fare. These activities reflect local customs and create a sense of shared leisure time.
The reception operates seasonally from April through September, with extended summer hours from 9 AM to 7:30 PM. Outside these months, services are limited, so plan visits accordingly.
A night watchman patrols the grounds during July and August to ensure guest safety. This patrol maintains complete silence from 11 PM to 8 AM, creating an unusually quiet nighttime environment.
