Camping Le Vercors, Mountain campground in Autrans, France
Camping Le Vercors is a mountain campsite located near Autrans at approximately 1050 meters elevation. The facility has 68 pitches for tents and recreational vehicles, plus 19 mobile homes, a two-bedroom holiday cottage, two wooden cabins, and a heated indoor swimming pool available from May through October.
The campground was created from a project converting a mountain pasture in the Vercors Regional Nature Park to promote outdoor tourism in the region. This development opened up the high-altitude area for contemporary recreational use.
Local farmers and artisans near the campsite maintain traditional mountain practices, producing regional specialties and crafts throughout the seasons.
The campground works well for both first-time campers and seasoned travelers because it offers multiple accommodation types and seasonal activities. Visitors should note that the heated indoor pool operates only in warmer months and the high elevation affects weather conditions.
The campground is run by former engineers who implement sustainable practices in managing the accommodation facility. This approach shapes how the operation works and its environmental practices.
