Le Mousserein, Municipal campground in La Motte-du-Caire, France
Le Mousserein is a campground set on natural terrain in Provence with around 36 pitches for tents and caravans, some in full sun and others in partial shade. The site has electrical hookups, sanitary buildings, a swimming pool, and two eco-lodges with views of the surrounding mountains.
The campground developed in the late 1900s as part of rural tourism growth in the Alpine region. This expansion opened the area to organized leisure travel and outdoor recreation.
The site connects visitors with village life, where locals and travelers share the same roads and markets throughout the seasons. Being there lets you experience how a small community welcomes outsiders into its daily routines.
The site opens from May through October, and staff at the reception can help with questions during daily hours. Driving there is straightforward via the main road to the village, and parking is easy throughout the grounds.
The site features two ecolodges built with sustainable methods and lighter building practices. These dwellings let you stay comfortably while looking out over both the village and the mountain slopes around it.
