Les Tipis du Bonheur de Vivre, Native American-inspired campground in Brûlon, France
Les Tipis du Bonheur de Vivre is a campground with 15 traditional tipis spread across 7 hectares of meadows beside a river and lake. Each dwelling includes an interior fireplace and accommodates two to eight guests, with shared kitchen facilities available to all.
The site was created to authentically represent Plains Indian traditions and was developed in collaboration with Jean Black Eagle from the Crow Tribe. This partnership ensured that genuine cultural practices and knowledge could be shared with visitors.
The campsite brings together visitors and indigenous traditions by offering stays focused on storytelling, dances, and direct interactions with animals. These experiences reflect how the place aims to honor and share the knowledge of Plains peoples with guests.
The campground welcomes guests from April through September with varying tipi sizes suited to different group needs. Visitors should be prepared for simple, traditional living conditions and come ready to adapt to open-air accommodation style.
Each tipi features an open smoke hole at the top through which guests can watch stars at night while a traditional fire burns inside. This design creates an authentic experience that helps modern visitors understand how Plains peoples historically lived beneath the open sky.
