Camping du Moulin de Barescou, Mountain campground in Escot, France
Camping du Moulin de Barescou is a mountain campsite nestled in the Aspe Valley with pitches located directly along a trout river. Visitors can choose between tent sites, caravan spots, and equipped mobile homes for their stay.
The site opened in 2018, bringing outdoor accommodation to the Béarn region during a period of growing interest in mountain camping throughout southern France.
The site connects visitors to mountain living traditions, where fishing and foraging are still practiced, and nearby Béarnais villages show how people adapted to life in these steep valleys.
The campsite is open seasonally from June through September and remains easy to reach by car or on foot from the valley floor. Visitors planning to stay during peak months should book in advance to secure a pitch.
The grounds sit at 675 meters elevation close to the Spanish border and provide direct access to mountain trails that few casual visitors explore. This remote position turns it into a launch point for reaching quieter corners of the Pyrénées.
