Les Jardins du Couvent is a restaurant in Deux-Acren, a small village near Lessines in Belgium. The dining room seats around 40 people, and an outdoor terrace with a garden opens during the warmer months.
The restaurant opened in November 2008, set up in a building that previously served as a convent. Chef Daniel Christiaens trained at a hotel school and worked in several establishments before opening this place and shaping its kitchen.
The restaurant takes its name from the former convent that houses it, and traces of that origin can still be felt in the building. Guests eat in simple, unfussy rooms where the focus stays on the food and the company.
Booking a table in advance is recommended, especially on weekends and for special occasions. The place is accessible for guests with reduced mobility, and parking is available nearby.
Everything served here is made from scratch in-house, from the small bites at the start to the desserts at the end. That includes sourdough bread, sorbets, and the little sweets offered at the close of a meal.
