Bistrot de la Poste, Restaurant in central Rennes, France
Bistrot de la Poste is a café-restaurant in the center of Rennes, located on Rue du Pré-Botté. It opens in the morning and stays open through the evening, offering a daily lunch special as well as snacks and drinks later in the day.
The place was known for decades as the Café de la Poste and was run for over 40 years by sisters Yvette and Colette Bourkels together with their mother Madeleine. In 2022, when the sisters retired, Siglinde Guémas took over and reopened it in December of that year under its current name.
The Bistrot de la Poste sits on Rue du Pré-Botté, close to the Breton Parliament, and is easy to reach on foot or by bike from the city center. A midday visit works well for the daily special, while the end of the afternoon draws regulars in for a drink.
The bistrot sits in central Rennes near the Breton Parliament, making it easy to reach on foot. Those who prefer a quieter visit should come at midday, while Thursday and Friday evenings tend to be livelier as it stays open a little later on those days.
When renovating in 2022, the new owner bought all the furniture and decoration from Emmaüs and secondhand shops to keep the old feel of the place. Only the counter, the bar, and a few original moldings from the former café were kept as they were.
